ABOUT THE ART
By Chris Ballasiotes
Using heavy scissors and the human touch rather than solely relying on the computer helps give this collection a sense of personality and character.
To create these abstract patterns, thick matte papers were ripped into unique shapes, creating organic forms and wavy edges. Sustainability and the creation of art isn’t a perfect journey — it’s an imperfect process. The Artifact pattern began with one sheet of paper and smaller individual forms were torn from this original piece. In the same way, we’re all created unique, connecting and creating something more beautiful when we’re joined together.

To create patterns for this collection, thick matte papers were ripped into unique shapes, creating organic forms and imperfect edges. Oil pastels were used to add additional textures and illustrations on the paper silhouettes. Unique colors, bold patterns, and abstract illustrations are common in much of my work but when designing a clothing collection, wearability is key. Nube has allowed me to design these pieces to be elevated and clean while still being refreshingly fun.
